Meet the boys of Sakto

Composed of Edgar Alan Guzman, Lucky Mark Mercado and Rodjun Cruz, charismtic boy group Sakto aimed to steal the music scene.  Sakto, which means ‘right mix’, was these young artists are offering on the stage: singing the right track, dancing on the right groove, and performing with the right energy. The trio was flexible and could perform pop, r&b, ballad, dance, alternative, novelty or whatever it is that would put their audience on the right mood. On David Archuleta’s concert, the group served as the front act and sung their carrier single “Rampa”, which is written by Jungee Marcelo, from their latest CD. They also honed their skills by performing on TV5′s variety shows Party On 5 and Fantastik.

Radio jock Mr. Fu praised the boys as they backed him up for his song collections under Sony Records. “I’ve never seen a group of male performers move as swiftly, fiercely yet edgy as Edgar, Lucky and Rodjun awesomely do so. Any performer will feel that the singing and dancing and even acting standards are always brought to a remarkable and excellent level when SAKTO delivers the best,” he said in awe.

Rodjun Cruz

Rodjun Cruz, the brother of Rayver Cruz, was the one you’ll recognize easily among the three. He was mainly seen dancing on ABS-CBN’s variety show ASAP. In 2006, he debuted as a member of defunct dance group Anime. On the same year, he played the role of Jigo, Erich Gonzales’ main interest, on drama series  Calla Lily of ABS-CBN. He also joined the cast of romantic comedy film Happy Hearts, which was lead by his brother Rayver Cruz and his loveteam Shaina Magdayao. He gained experience on balldancing after competing on ABS-CBN’s U Can Dance Version 2, where he won as the grand champion along with his partner  Lina Basas. He also won the grand prize of Merrygalo, a segment on the defunct noontime show Wowowee. In 2008, he took the role of heartthrob Jake Perez on TV5′s teen oriented show Lip Gloss. And on 2010, he acted as the leading man of Bianca Manalo in ABS-CBN’s fantasy romcom series Juanita Banana. Furthermore, he would portray one of the major roles on TV5′s upcoming adaptation of comic Bangis.

Edgar Allan Guzman

Edgar Allan Guzman started out as the winner of Mr. Pogi in 2006. This paved his way on acting career as he bagged roles on various independent films, which earned him the name ‘New Indie Prince’ by Yahoo Philippines website. Furthermore, he was praised for acting on independent film Astig, which participated on Korea’s Pusan International Film Festival and Japan’s Osaka Asian Film Festival. Additionally, he was nominated as Best Supporting Actor by the critics of Pasado Award in 2009. Besides acting, he could be seen frequently on TV5 shows such as Fantastik, Lokomoko U, mini-series Lady Dada, and PO5. On the music side, he was once a member of male group Young Men who popularized novelty and youtube hit songs ”Mas Mahal Na Kita Ngayon” (I Learned to  Love You More) and “Nagmahal Ako” (I Fell in Love), earning them a nominee as Best Novelty Recording in Awit Awards. Edgar’s vocal range was shown on Young Men’s ballad single “Wish I Could.”  This year, he topbilled Cinemalaya films Bisperas by Jeffrey Jeturian and Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me by Erick Salud.

Lucky Mark Mercado

Theatre actor Lucky Mark Mercado was once a host of GMA’s Ka-Blog! He also improved his skills by hosting TV5′s comedy show Wow, Megano’n. Moreover, he danced and sung on variety shows PO5 and Fantastik.
